Baby Naming Ceremony
A Naming ceremony is a very popular ceremony: it is a wonderful way to welcome your child and celebrate them as they begin their journey through life. It provides an opportunity to share the wonder, joy and pride you feel. This ceremony is a joyous event that is usually held in a family home or garden, and involves many relatives and friends, the most important people in the child’s life. Most often, you as parents will state your love and commitment to your child and declare hopes for their future. These ceremonies also recognise the important role we each have in the encouragement and protection of the children with whom we may come in contact with. It is a reminder of the great responsibility involved in raising a child.
Is the naming ceremony just for babies? No. Children of any age can have a Naming Ceremony.Naming ceremonies are appropriate for anyone, at any age. The arrival of a new baby, uniting of step or adopted children within a family, or an adult name change are all great reasons to hold a naming ceremony.
Can Godparents be appointed at a naming ceremony? You can, but do not have to appoint Godparents as part of a naming ceremony. While a naming ceremony differs from a Baptism or Christening in that the Godparents are not required to accept any religious responsibility (godparent’s traditional role is to help guide the child in a Christian life). Most people in our society now understand the term Godparent to mean an older adult who acts as a friend and mentor to the child and supports his or her parents in the parenting role (they will be there for your child as he or she grows up and throughout their life in whatever way is needed). Many people do appoint Godparents, and may use the term Guardian, Mentor, Sponsor or something similar to describe them.
The value of the ceremony is in the ceremony itself, in the way it can strengthen the bonds between parents and the child (ren), parents and grandparents, parents and other supporting adults and significant adults and the child (ren).
You can organise the ceremony in any way that you want and to suit your needs and feelings. It can be fun and interactive for guests or you can make it calm and spiritual and stick to traditional poems or readings, perhaps with some music in the background. Try to make the occasion unique to you and your child through the promises and readings you choose.

Commitment Ceremony
A Commitment Ceremony is a beautiful ceremony where a person can pledge their life-long love and support to another person, without the legal requirement. There are no rules so the wording and form it takes is up to you.
Some couples have a commitment ceremony if they were married overseas and want to have a second ceremony for family and friends at home; one or both parties may not wish to formalise their relationship legally, or one or both parties may not be free to marry (too young or already married to someone else).
For a Commitment Ceremony I offer couples the same service as a wedding ceremony, and I look forward to being able to mark this special moment with you. The same time, effort and heart will be put into your special day. And of course, the price is reduced due to the lack of official paperwork required.

Renewal of Vows Ceremony
Many couples wish to have a “Renewal of Vows” Ceremony:
They may have been married overseas or in another state and now want to celebrate their marriage with family and friends.
Their wedding day may not have met their needs and expectations and they wish to create the wedding they missed first time.
There may have been a difficult time in the relationship and the couple wish to make a fresh start in their relationship.
It may be time to refocus their relationship on their love and support of one another for the next stage of their journey together (often after an empty nest).
The couple want to do something special for their anniversary to share with their family.

Even a Divorce Ceremony ...
A “Divorce Ceremony” can be held at any time - you don't even have to wait for the divorce to become final!!
It is about acknowledging the past and moving on.It can be used as reassurance to children that their parents will continue to be committed to them (even though their parents are no longer in love with each other, there is no reason that they will ever stop loving them).
